AllocateIQ — Resource Allocation Dashboard

Team resource planning dashboard — employees, projects, allocations, tasks, time entries, meetings, leaves, performance reviews, and Socket.IO real-time layer.

  • React 19
  • Vite
  • Redux Toolkit
  • FullCalendar
  • Framer Motion
  • Express
  • MongoDB
  • Socket.IO
  • JWT
  • Swagger

01

Problem

Team leads needed visibility into resource allocation across projects, tasks, and time — with approval hooks and performance tracking in one dashboard.

02

Solution

Built AllocateIQ with broad backend route surface (allocations, projects, tasks, time-entries, meetings, leaves, trainings, performance reviews) and React frontend with FullCalendar and Framer Motion.

03

Architecture

Express + MongoDB (Mongoose) backend with JWT, Socket.IO, Swagger. React 19 + Vite + Redux + Tailwind/DaisyUI frontend with FullCalendar, Framer Motion, and feature modules.

04

Business impact

Provides team resource planning visibility with allocation tracking and performance review integration.

Decisions

Technical decisions

  1. 01MongoDB for flexible allocation schema evolution
  2. 02FullCalendar for visual time/allocation scheduling
  3. 03Feature module frontend architecture matching backend domains

Features

Feature breakdown

  • Resource Allocations
  • Project Management
  • Task Tracking
  • Time Entries
  • Meetings
  • Leave Tracking
  • Performance Reviews

Responsibilities

  • Designed resource allocation data models with approval hooks
  • Built backend API surface for employees, projects, tasks, time entries, and meetings
  • Implemented frontend feature modules with FullCalendar integration
  • Scaffolded Socket.IO real-time layer for live allocation updates

Challenges

  • Modeling allocation conflicts and overallocation detection
  • Integrating FullCalendar with resource allocation data models

Performance considerations

  • Paginated allocation queries
  • Socket.IO room-based updates per team

Lessons learned

  • Broad route surface benefits from Swagger documentation during rapid development
  • Socket.IO scaffolding early enables real-time features without architectural rework

Future roadmap

  • AI-assisted allocation recommendations
  • Overallocation alerts and capacity planning views
  • Integration with HR leave data
